Information Commissioner’s in Halifax July 9th – will he say why NHS bosses & Councillors put “commercial confidentiality” above public accountability?

On Thursday, July 9 at 6.30pm the Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, is giving a talk on Freedom of Information (FoI) issues at Halifax Minster. Free admission.

Both Greater Huddersfield & North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Groups have refused a recent FoI request about the award of the £238m Care Closer to Home contract, on the grounds that “commercial confidentiality” overrides the “strong public interest in NHS transparency and accountability”.  Mr Graham needs to make it clear where the Information Commissioner’s Office stands on this.
