Ask your Council leader to publish your area’s NHS Slash & Trash Plan now!

Today Camden Council put the “full” draft version of the North Central London Sustainability and Transformation Plan on its website, despite NHS England telling Clinical Commissioning Groups that they shouldn’t publish the STPs until NHS England has seen them and made them fit for public consumption.

All 44 Sustainability and Transformation Plans had to be sent to NHS England last Friday, 21st October.

Camden Council leader Sarah Hayward said she had “serious reservations” about the North Central London Sustainability and Transformation Plan, and that she decided to publish the plan today because there had been “no political oversight, and minimal public and patient engagement” in the process.

Birmingham and Solihull have also ignored NHS England’s ruling and published their STP.

Downloadable template email

Here is a template email for Calderdale people, that you can adapt as you see fit; and here is a generic email for people living everywhere else.

Cllr Tim Swift is the Calderdale Council leader, his email address is councillor.tswift@calderdale.gov.uk

Cllr David Sheard is the Kirklees Council leader, this is his email address: david.sheard@kirklees.gov.ukste

If you live outside Calderdale and Kirklees, here is how to find your local Council website.

How to find which Sustainability and Transformation Plan area you’re in

Here is the  Sustainability and Transformation Plan “footprint” map and index. It is typical that NHS England calls an area a “footprint” – they must employ someone to come up with silly words in the hope that this will throw the public off the track.

Anyway, here is the map.nhse-stp-footprint-map

  1. We are fed up of these secret deals which see private health companies benefit at the cost of the patients who pay for our NHS. Only yesterday a standing room only public meeting in Keighley saw NHS England defend the imminent closure of a vital GP Surgery. The 6,700 patients who have depended upon the multi-lingual primary care service for over 30 years heard rumours of closure at the beginning of November and now face total closure on 30th November when the current provider’s contract ends. What sort of service is that Mr. Stevens? At the very least they deserve a stay of execution to prevent total chaos with other local practices saying they are unable to absorb such numbers and local Doctors willing to continue to staff the practice which was rated GOOD by a CQC report only last month. The strength of feeling in the meeting showed how highly the community regard their GP service but it seems since the Minimum Practice Income Guarantee was withdrawn profits not people are the bottom line for NHS England. We are dependent upon our local councillors to take action on our behalf and fully investigate the implications of Simon Stevens’ STP before signing off these complex and rushed plans.

    • Thanks for this info Joy, it’s terrible, there were I think 6 GP closures in Plymouth this week by NHS England. The STPs have already been sent to NHS England and from what I can see most Councillors have been asleep on the job – certainly those in West Yorkshire & Harrogate, so for the most part I doubt that we can rely on them to stop the STPs, unfortunately. Contracts for the first two years of the STP have to be signed on 23rd Dec.
